Evaluation of Yield and Quality Characteristics of Different Soybean Genotypes Under Konya Conditions

This study, conducted in 2017 and 2018, aimed to determine the yield, quality, and several morphological characteristics of different soybean (Glycine max L.) genotypes. The experiments were arranged in a randomized complete block design with four replications, using seven lines (HAT I–VII) and six registered cultivars (Arısoy, Ataem-7, Çetinbey, Nova, SA-88, and Umut 2002). Sowing was carried out in six rows with 45 cm row spacing, and identical agronomic practices were applied to all genotypes. Key agronomic and technological traits—seed yield, protein and oil contents, plant height, first pod height, thousand-seed weight, number of pods per plant, and flowering duration—were evaluated. Significant differences among genotypes (p<0.01) were identified for most traits. Seed yield ranged from 292.2 to 397.3 kg da⁻¹, with HAT I showing the highest yield. Protein content varied between 36.4% and 40.4%, with Umut 2002 and HAT VII exhibiting the highest values. Oil content ranged from 19.2% to 22.0%, and the highest value was recorded in HAT II. Plant height varied between 99.9 and 118.1 cm, first pod height between 5.7 and 8.2 cm, thousand-seed weight between 115.8 and 157.5 g, number of pods per plant between 24.2 and 32.5, and flowering duration between 70.3 and 74.3 days. Overall, the results indicated that genotype performance varied depending on climatic and soil conditions. HAT I, HAT II, and Ataem-7 were prominent due to their high yield potential, balanced oil–protein ratio, and morphological stability.
